The mission of the Caldwell Public Library is to "provide services and information to connect, enrich, and inspire our community." Library staff strive to provide the best possible experience for our users - both in-person and online. We understand the importance of building trust with our users and helping them find the resources they need. Over the next several months, we will highlight each of our staff members and the work they do to provide excellent library services to you - our users.
Monique Gaddy - Adult Services
Hello, my name is Monique, and I am an Information Specialist. I help with a variety of tasks each day at the library, usually tech assistance, reference questions, tutoring, research assistance, web guidance, and database training. My team and I over at the information desk are those who can find hidden resources that may make your life as a learning adult or student a lot easier, all you have to do is ask!
I do a lot of outreach for the Caldwell community, such as book readings, community resource collaboration, and off-site program presentations. I also help run instructional programs at the library with the assistance of community members, such as our Adulting 101 program series. Often you will see me out at events, giving out information to the public about our many services.
This is the third state I have lived in. I grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I lived in and around San Jose, California, for about five years. When I was in college in Colorado, I was an Astronomy tutor, and also did specialized tutoring, covering an array of other college level subjects. I have worked at a library in each state I have lived in. In each position I received training for growth and innovation in library services. When I worked in San Jose, I was a member of the blog team and my work is archived on their website.
Some of my personal hobbies are playing video games, reading, and creating art. I play a ton of different games; I have always loved solving complicated problems and working with teams to accomplish goals. My all-time favorite video games are Dr. Mario and anything Rock Band. I love to read anything that catches my interest, but I especially love non-fiction because I love learning. With art, I like to paint, sketch, take photographs, and build multimedia pieces. Currently I am working on hand-painted cards for my gaming community. I have 100 cards to make so far!
I love visualizing and sharing new concepts and believe in challenging the mind and capacity for growth, inspiration, and lifelong learning. I am hoping to blend my creativity, diversity, and imagination into our already beautiful and inspiring community. I am working on learning more about business and marketing, as well as enhancing my Spanish speaking skills. I love Caldwell and Treasure Valley and always strive to be a valuable community member of this beautiful state.
