Meet the Staff: Sharon Porter

Updated: Nov 26, 2020

The mission of the Caldwell Public Library is to "provide services and information to connect, enrich, and inspire our community." Library staff strive to provide the best possible experience for our users - both in-person and online. We understand the importance of building trust with our users and helping them find the resources they need. Over the next several months, we will highlight each of our staff members and the work they do to provide excellent library services to you - our users.

Hi! My name is Sharon Porter and I have been a part time circulation assistant at Caldwell Public Library since 2016. I am one of the first people you see when you enter the library’s front doors. I can issue you a library card, check your books in and out, help you find just the right book to read or movie to watch. I will take your money if you need to pay a fine, offer your little one a sticker or bookmark to cheer them up, and even give you directions to the restrooms when needed.

My favorite thing to do at the library is to help our patrons learn to navigate Overdrive, Libby and RBDigital , our e-book and e-audiobook recourses. (My own Kindle is always loaded with library books.)

My husband, Jim, and I have been married over 40 years. Together we pastor a church in Caldwell and are also very active in LoveCaldwell, a local non-profit dedicated to benefiting the City of Caldwell and her citizens.

My other loves include my four grandchildren, reading mysteries, knitting, a good hamburger, my Pembroke Welsh Corgi and taking really long walks. In 2014 my husband and I walked the Camino de Santiago, an ancient 500 mile pilgrimage across northern Spain. We hope to go again in 2022.

Come and see me at the library. I would love to help you find your new favorite book!
