Use the library's 3D printers to bring your ideas to life. Our knowledgeable staff can help you design and execute a variety of 3D print projects. Schedule a consultation to get started. 3D Printing Create your own beautiful designs using the 3D printer at the library. What is 3D Printing? 3D Printing is an additive manufacturing process. This means it works by building an object layer by layer. There are lots of different types of 3D printers that work in a variety of materials, from human tissue to chocolate. The most popular ones use plastic or resin. At Caldwell Public Library, our Prusa MK3 printers use plastic - usually PLA (Polylactic Acid). When we print in plastic it's a lot like drawing with a hot glue gun. The printer melts the plastic and extrudes it through a small nozzle, building it layer by layer. Need help getting started? We have a few different ways for you to 3D print something at the library: Send us your 3D print in .stl or .obj format. Click Here or scroll to the bottom of this page to fill out our submission form and upload your 3D print file. Book a free 3D printing consultation with a staff member to set something up to print. We recommend setting up a consultation if this is your first time 3D printing at the library or if you are unsure if your design will be compatible with our printers. Summer reading is a fun library program focusing on keeping the learning trend up over the summer. Beat the slump! Read with us! 2026 SUMMER READING PROGRAM Read, earn prizes, and participate in special programs all summer long! About the Program Challenge yourself to read all summer long! Join us May 30 - August 8 for this year's Summer Reading Program. The theme is Unearth a Story at The Library, and we will have reading logs, bonus activities, and special programs for all ages to enjoy. Reading Logs Participants set their own daily reading goal and log each day they reach that goal. Choose between a digital or paper reading log. Paper logs can be picked up at the library or downloaded to print at home. Click here to preview available book prizes. Special Programs Special programs will begin the week of June 1, 2026. Join us every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., Fridays at 10:00 a.m., and select Mondays at 6:00 p.m. for fun programs! Computer And Internet Access The Caldwell Public Library provides wireless internet access for free to the public for use inside the library. Users are responsible for configuring their own equipment and must comply with the Internet and Computer Use Policy . Public Wifi Access Free WiFi can be accessed from inside the library and from the parking lot. Use of our WiFi is subject our our Internet Use Policy . Desktop Computers Desktop computers are available for use during open hours with a library card. Computers have internet access and Microsoft Office. Computer Use is subject to our Computer Use Policy . Adaptive Work Station The adaptive work station contains features such as an adjustable desk and keyboard with high visibility keys, to aid users with visual, auditory, and other impairments. To set up an appointment to use the station, please see a staff member for assistance. Mobile Hotspots Mobile hotspots are available for checkout. Holds can be placed through our online catalog or by calling the library. Hotspot use is subject to our Mobile Hotspot Policy . 3D Printing The library has 3D printers available for public use by appointment. See our 3D printing page for more information. Printing and Copying The library offers self-serve copy and print services to the public for a small fee. Black copies are .10 and color copies are .50 a page. Cash payment is preferred, but we accept credit card payments with a minimum purchase of $1.00.

Challenge yourself to read 1000 books with your child before they enter kindergarten and earn prizes along the way! 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Challenge Start building literacy skills with your kids from the day they are born! Challenge yourself to read 1000 books with your child before they start kindergarten. About the Program The goal is simple: read 1,000 books with your child before they start kindergarten. Sound daunting? If you read just one book a day from the time your child is born, you will reach 1,000 books before they turn three. 1 book per day for 3 years = 1095 books 10 books per week for 2 years = 1040 books 3 books per day for 1 year = 1095 books Plus, the benefits are huge. Studies show that families who read aloud to their children from birth help strengthen language skills and build vocabulary - two essential tools for when children begin learning to read. To keep the challenge fun and interesting, participants will earn a FREE BOOK for every 200 books they read and a board book set for reaching 1000 books. Bring your reading log to the library to claim your prizes. How to Sign Up Visit Beanstack for a digital log or download the paper log below (make sure your printer settings are set to print on both sides, flip on short edge). Read with your child. Studies have shown reading is an excellent bonding opportunity. You will create lifelong memories as you help your child build early literacy skills. Each time a book is read with your child, log the reading in your digital or paper log. Check-in at the library every time your child finishes 200 books to claim their prizes. You can count any book read to your child by anyone— siblings, grandparents, teachers, library storytimes etc. It is okay to repeat books and read multiple books per day. Books read in any language also count. Print a Paper Log FAQs Who can participate? Every child, from birth until they enter kindergarten. How long will the program take to complete? This is a self-paced program, so completion time will vary for each family. If you read one book a day with your child, you will finish in just under three years. My child loves to re-read books. Can we count a book more than once? Yes! Repetition is actually important to learning. You can count a book each time you read it. Can other people read to my child? Yes! Any and all books read by parents, grandparents, siblings, etc. count toward your goal. Don't forget to count books read at library storytimes, too!
